Westfjords, Iceland
We love Iceland, partly because it is one of the only places in the world we've been where we feel like you can truly get away and disconnect from the rest of the world. While we know that it has changed in terms of tourism, believe us, Iceland is still remote.
The Westfjords of Iceland are home to some of the most remote towns in the whole country. It's capital town Ísafjörður, while incredibly small, is still such a great place to base your trip out of and is home to one of our favorite restaurants in the entire world. The point is, the Westfjords are worth the trip.
Stay
Einarshusid Bnb - This adorable little place is located in Bolungarvík. The owner who greeted us was so friendly and we stayed up super late that night drinking, talking, and singing with he and his father in law. It was such a fun memory for sure!
Do
Reykjafjardarlaug - This pool is on your way to Bíldudalur. Just a few steps away from this pool there is a small hot spring that was really warm!
Dynjandi Waterfall - There is no shortage of waterfalls in Iceland, but this one is really something else.
Sea kayak - In the town of Ísafjörður there are plenty of opportunities to take Kayaks out into the Fjord. Although we lost a camera to the sea ... it was totally worth it!
Eat
Tjoruhusid - This might be one of the best restaurants in all of Iceland. It's owned by a family and the father and son cook all of the fish and the other children and mother serve you. It is some of the best fish we have ever had.
Simbahöllin -This was the perfect spot for a quick coffee and bite to eat while we were driving around in the Westfjords. It was really cute inside and the soup was delicious!
