Antigua, Guatemala and Lake Atitlan

In July we had the privilege of getting to work with Travel Guatemala on a trip to Antigua. We had only heard amazing things about Antigua and boy did it live up to our expectations. It's a city full of so much culture and beauty!

We stayed in Antigua for a total of three nights and also got to do a little side trip over to Lake Atitlan. If you havn't heard of it, look it up! It's only a 2.5 hour drive from Antigua and totally worth it!

ANTIGUA

STAY

Santo Domingo Hotel: This hotel used to be a Monastery and is a lovely spot right in the city. It was within walking distance to everything.

Stela 9 Bnb: This adorable spot triples as a cafe and clothing store. It was really reasonably priced and located really close to the Monastery mentioned above.

EAT:

Mason Panza Verde: This is a famous spot that we had a lovely lunch at. It's a bit of a far walk so you will want to take an Uber here.

Caoba Farm: This was one of our favorite spots as the restaurant was so down to earth and located right on a farm. The food was fresh and delicious and there is a farm store when you first enter. Go eat lunch here! You will need to take an Uber here as well. It's worth it!

Y tu Pina Tambien: This was one of out favorite little breakfast spots within walking distance from the hotel. It had such yummy smoothies and was so small and quaint.

Cerro San Cristobal: This was a great spot for our last lunch in Antigua. It had a beautiful view overlooking the city and there was a beautiful greenhouse and garden on the property.

LAKE ATITLAN

STAY

La Fortuna: This eco friendly resort right on the lake was unbelievable. We loved our bungalow so much that we honestly didn't do a whole lot of exploring aside from just hanging out on the property. We definitely think this is the best place to stay on the lake!

SAN MARCOS LA LAGUNA

We took a boat from the dock of our hotel and went over to this adorable little village for lunch. We only stayed for a few hours but it was really fun to just walk around and take it all in. There were lots of stores with organic products and cafes with fresh local food.

We heard that Lush was a good place to stay in this town so we went and checked it out. Besides having no idea how you would walk that far with luggage, it was really beautiful. Honestly though, we liked staying at La Fortuna better and were glad that we made that choice.
